Hi James,

thank you for your generous offer, but I am not really suited for literary criticism, so I will have to pass on the offer.

Best,

Hi,

Apologies for the off-topic comment, but I couldn't find a contact email for you.

I've recently put out an ebook of my writing, called 'The New Death and others'. It's mostly short stories, with some obvious gamer-interest material. For example I have a story inspired by OD&D elves, as well as poems which retell Robert E Howard's King Kull story 'The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune' and HP Lovecraft's 'Under the Pyramids'.

I was wondering if you'd be interested in doing a review on your blog.

If so, please let me know your email, and what file format is easiest for you, and I'll send you a free copy. You can email me (n...@apolitical.info) or reply to this thread.

You can download a sample from Smashwords:

I'll also link to your review from my blog.

It is a really good and intriguing campaign kick-off; I have been toying with the idea of characters cursed with amnesia myself, as another means of introducing players to the utterly alien setting of Carcosa, besides playing outlanders. Reading this journal and thinking about the benefits of this set-up, this might be even better.
Anyway, I am curiously looking forward to #02.

Jeee. Én is gyorsan beleolvastam és átfutott az agyamon, hogy azért a teszt csapatunk RENDKÍVÜL szerencsésen megúszta a találkozásokat (pl. a kedves varázslóhölgynél tett éjszakai látogatást). :-)

One of the advantages of Pathfinder vs. 3.5 is its emphasis on keeping the core builds competitive. Prestige classes and odd builds are applied more for thematic emphasis than tactical superiority. That lets me build a straight fighter (perhaps adding an archetype) who holds his own against weird, mutted-out builds. If I need a more complicated NPC, I pregenerate him or hit my "library".

I've also found Pathfinder's "haunts" to be a good system for simulating some ghostly manifestations. The players enjoy figuring out how to lay these threats to rest.

Some of the Manor's traps encountered so far:
 * A largely-empty strongroom was lined with stone shelves that once held journals and documents considered sensitive by the Rumps. A complex conjuration focus was carved into the far wall. Anyone attempting to steal documents from the room summoned an air elemental. Tasked with preventing theft, the frustrated elemental attempted to kill anyone in the area.
 * An amateurish booby-trap set in one doorway attempted to strike those passing through with an alchemical silver axe. This one was actually set by one of Sir Runic's men in hopes of slaying one of the mansion's undead.
 * A hall's floor was thickly covered with dirt, with a pit dug in the center. 40 feet down, a lone ghast patiently dug, periodically carrying baskets of earth to the top by climbing a knotted rope hanging from the pit's side. Unfortunately, the hole was none too stable: Those standing at the edge needed to save (Reflex DC 13) or fall as the floor under them collapsed into the pit. The ghast had little patience for those who knocked dirt and debris into his pit.
 * A jumble of decrepit body parts lay heaped in one chamber, dumped out of their coffins. Their angry owners manifested as a haunt, forming a choking cloud of dust and bone fragments. To lay them to rest, the parts had to be resorted into their respective sarcophagi.
